I Had a Dream I Was in California
Woke up — still in California!
Been pretty busy and tired with work and getting up early and everything. I’m being very lazy except for the two short runs I did at the gym in the past two days. Now my calves are killing me again so I’m giving them a break. I really want to be able to spend some good time at the park this weekend without worrying about that too much.
Anyway, I got home relatively early today. I was a little hungry and I’ve also been kinda excited about the probiotic and superfood I got this week. However I didn’t eat immediately when I got home (it would have been slightly early I think anyway). Instead I decided to start up social things, in this case by reviving my OKC profile.
It was interesting for a several reasons. One, I got to rewrite my profile and be like “hey I’m new in town, come play with me!” I still went over a few revisions because I really don’t want it to be like reading through a book. I think I settled on something reasonable, and I didn’t even mention World of Warcraft ;P
Two, I got to use some new pictures. I don’t take a lot of pictures of just myself, and I didn’t want to post pictures with a bunch of other people, so I didn’t have a lot to pick from, but the ones I wound up with I think look a lot better (and are a lot more legitimate) than the photos I’d used before. So that’s kinda nice.
Three, I went back and re-answered a number of questions I hadn’t looked at in a long time. A lot of answers didn’t change, but the ones that did were a little interesting, as a way to see how things have changed a little over the years.
Four, there was one girl who messaged me even before I was all done revising my profile. I don’t know if it will be very interesting, but it was nice anyway. Maybe I’ll meet up with her sometime, we’ll see.
Five, I was browsing semi-random (well, suggestions) and there are quite a few cute singles around. It certainly helps that I’m practically smack dab in the middle of the city. I would probably still be looking through if I didn’t think that sending messages at midnight was a bad thing (not to mention, I do have to get up early).
Six, I guess I was a little bold(er) about messaging people. This is probably related to number five, since the opportunity cost is a little lower than with Seattle. But anyway I did feel pretty easy about simply writing “hey would you like to go for a walk sometime? cheers” (replace walk with coffee or food, etc.). Some of the ladies had not logged in for a while, so at least I can convince myself they just never saw it, or something silly like that ;P
Seven, I was able to legitimately check the “interested in friends/activity partners” thing. I mean, I would say I’m still looking for someone to possibly date first, because they’re harder to find, but when I think about forming a circle of friends like I have in Seattle, the idea of meeting up with girls I’m not “interested” in is a lot more appealing. It’s still kinda weird though, especially considering that maybe they’d think it was a date? Anyway, there was one girl I saw who was pretty cute and listed as single, but was only interested in friends. It was really hard to convince myself one way or the other if I should try to befriend her; I ended up sending her a note but who knows what will happen.
Anyway, I guess that’s enough of me ranting about female topics for now. One last thing I’ll mention is that I think every sorted list should have a “sort by magic” option.
